Gas cut off after car crash near Shrewsbury homes
Firefighters isolated the gas supply to homes in Shrewsbury after a car crash near a property.
Three fire engines were sent to Hereford Road, Meole Brace this afternoon shortly before 2pm after the one-vehicle smash.
The driver was treated by ambulance paramedics at the scene.
A Shropshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "At 1.55pm we received a call reporting that a road traffic collision had taken place in Shrewsbury.
"Three fire appliances including the rescue tender were mobilised from Shrewsbury and Wellington. An operations officer was in attendance.
"Gas supply isolated by fire service personnel."
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We were called at 1.39pm to Hereford Road, Shrewsbury to reports of a low speed road traffic collision. One ambulance attended and an off duty paramedic also stopped to render aid. The driver, a man, was given assessment on scene before being conveyed to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further checks."
