Woman suffers 'potentially serious injuries' in Shropshire village crash

A woman has sustained "potentially serious injuries" following a crash in a Shropshire village on Thursday.

The incident in Hemford, south of Minsterley saw four fire engines and three ambulances attend.

The fire service was despatched to the scene on the A488 at around 2.30pm.

West Mercia Police said two people were injured in the incident, but added the road was not closed following the crash, which it said involved only one vehicle.

A spokesperson said: "Police were called at around 2.30pm this afternoon to a collision on the A488 between Marsh Junction and Gravelbank Junction, involving one vehicle.

"Two people were treated by the ambulance service for injuries. The fire service were also in attendance. The road was not blocked."

West Midlands Ambulance Service said a female passenger in the car suffered potentially serious injuries and was conveyed to hospital.

A spokesperson said: “We were called at 2.20pm to a road traffic collision involving one car on Gravels, Minsterley in Shrewsbury. Three ambulances and a paramedic officer attended the scene. 

"Upon arrival we found two patients, a man and a woman who were the driver and a passenger in the car. A woman who was a passenger was assessed and had sustained potentially serious injuries. 

"She received treatment from ambulance staff at the scene before being conveyed to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further treatment. A man who was the driver was assessed by ambulance staff and did not require further treatment, he received self care advice before being discharged.”
