High winds blow roof off at school near Shrewsbury
Part of the roof at a school near Shrewsbury was blown off into a car park by high winds.
Some of the debris from the roof of one room reportedly landed on cars in the car park at Mary Webb School in Pontesbury yesterday.
The school said that it would be open to pupils as usual today.
Contractors were reported to have been on site to make the room, which houses a water tank, safe and water-tight.
The contractors were expected to return today to continue their work.
The Met Office issued a yellow warning for wind in Shropshire on Thursday but said that it was the “expected” weather for this time of year.
