Three taken to hospital after crash near Shrewsbury

Three people were taken to hospital following a crash between two cars and a van near Shrewsbury today.

Emergency services were called to the junction of the A488 and Main Road, near Pontesbury at 12.30pm.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance service said it involved two cars and a van.

He said: "A woman in her 80s, who was a passenger in one of the cars, was treated for chest pains and taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

"A woman in her 50s, who was the driver of one of the cars, was treated for leg pain and taken to hospital.

"There was also a woman in her 30s who was treated for back pain. She was given pain relief and also taken to the same hospital."

West Mercia Police were also in attendance.
