Two fire engines from Craven Arms and Ludlow went to the property in Peckledy at 2.15am.

Fire crews used breathing apparatus, hose reel jets and thermal imaging cameras to deal with the blaze.

They also used saws to cut away part of the roof and ventilated smoke from the roof space.

The fire was out by 3.24am.

Later firefighters tweeted: "Certainly highlights the value of working smoke alarms particularly in extremely remote areas like that not only enabled all occupants to leave safely but the early detection helped limit the fire spread ensuring the family’s Christmas is not as bad as it could have been."
