MP looking forward to Shropshire Council 're-invigorating' top team after leader voted out
Ludlow MP Philip Dunne has said he is looking forward to Shropshire Council "reinvigorating" its leadership teams after leader Peter Nutting lost his seat in the elections.
Mr Dunne paid tribute to the service given by Mr Nutting, who lost his Copthorne seat on the county council and Shrewsbury Town Council to Lib Dem Rob Wilson. But he also said it could be an opportunity to bring new energy and fresh ideas to the table.
He said: "The Conservative group on Shropshire Council will be looking to appoint a new leader, after Peter Nutting, who has been a dedicated and committed councillor for over two decades, lost his seat.
"I am looking forward to Shropshire Conservatives using this consequent change to re-invigorate the leadership team, and trust they will bring a new energy and fresh ideas to reconnect the council’s work with voters' priorities. Conservatives retained a strong overall majority in Shropshire, but lost some seats locally."
