In October organisers Tracey Huffer and Ruth Houghton of Bishop's Castle staged the simultaneous charity events at the Public Hall in aid of the campaign to support the SpArC leisure centre.

On March 25 the pair will be putting on a second such event, and hoping to top their previous total.

Tracey said: “Last year it poured with rain but we kept on washing cars despite the weather and we still managed to raise a fantastic amount of money.

"This year we are hoping for better weather and to hopefully raise even more."

The table top sale will be held on the same morning, complete with freshly cooked breakfast baps made with local bacon, sausages and free range eggs.

Ruth said: “We are really grateful again to Pughs Butchers of Bishop’s Castle and Sally Jones of Acton for their support with the breakfast ingredients."

The SpArC leisure centre is currently set to lose funding from Shropshire Council in 2018. The Don't Let the SpArC Go Out campaign raised more than £50,000 last year in support of keeping it open.
