Bishop's Castle tandem triathlon call
A unique cycling challenge is to return to a south Shropshire town in the coming weeks and entrants will be raising money for their local leisure centre.
The 32nd Bishop's Castle Tandem Triathlon, which sees competitors do the cycling stretch on a bicycle made for two, is all set for the July 1.
The swimming pool at SpArC leisure centre in Bishop's Castle has hosted the 1km swim section for the last 31 years and this year is no exception.
SpArC charity spokeswoman Ruth Houghton said: "SpArC charity trustees, who along with the local community have fought hard to keep the leisure centre, are delighted that once again SpArC can play a key part in this annual event.
"This year Matt Morgan and his daughter Rebecca are taking on the challenge and are seeking sponsorship in aid of the Save the SpArC campaign.
"Matt and Rebecca, entered in the Triathlon under the name of SpArC Spinners, are hoping to achieve a competitive time whilst raising money to support SpArC."
Matt said: "This is the first time I will be competing in the Tandem Triathlon and with my daughter we hope to raise hundreds of pounds and complete the event in under three hours.
Rebecca, 16, added: "I am doing the swim part and hope to achieve a really good time. It is my first time competing and I'm really looking forward to it. We've been doing a lot of training together and we hope to raise a lot of money for the Save the SpArC campaign."
Further entries for the Tandem Triathlon are welcome up until June 18 by visiting registering at www.tandemtriathlon.org.uk.
Anyone wishing to sponsor Matt and Rebecca can do so by filling out a sponsorship form at the SpArC reception or emailing matt.morgan@britpart.co.uk.
