The rare artwork, which will go under the hammer in the county later this month, even features Pogo the Clown, evil Gacy’s alter-ego during his killing spree, and messages written by him.

Dubbed the killer clown, he murdered at least 33 teenage boys and young men between 1972 and 1978 while also entertaining children at parties. Gacy finally confessed to his crimes in December 1978 and was executed by lethal injection in May 1994.

More artwork by Gacy up for auction includes a painting of Jesus, his own take on Disney classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and a painting of birds flying over a sunset. Other gruesome items include police photographs of the crawl space under his home on West Summerdale Avenue in Cook County, Chicago, where he buried multiple victims.

The auction on October 15 at Mullocks in Wall under Heywood, near Church Stretton, also has memorabilia from Henry Lee Lucas, who claimed to have killed over 3,000 people and Anthony Sowell – the Cleveland Strangler who slayed 11 – and a handwritten letter from notorious murderer Ted Bundy.

In total the 26 chilling mementos of the evil men are expected for fetch £39,662.

Ben Jones, consultant at Mullock’s Auctioneers said: “We are often presented with interesting consignments within this type of industry and this is certainly an interesting subject that has been fascinating to catalogue.

“What has been especially interesting, as is with most subjects of this nature, is the research conducted on the individuals involved. It was quite chilling at times to catalogue.”

“We are aware that there are collectors of this type of material across the world and do appreciate that this is a sensitive subject.

“Many of the serial killers are now dead and therefore some items included within the selection may never be available again.”
