Injured walker rescued by firefighters after falling in Carding Mill Valley

Firefighters rushed to the Carding Mill Valley to rescue a person who had fallen and sustained injuries.

The Shropshire and Rescue Service received a call at 10.21am this morning (Tuesday) reporting the incident at the National Trust site in Church Stretton.

Two fire crews including the "Land Rover pump" were sent to the scene from Church Stretton and Ludlow fire stations.

Crews rescued one person from the side of a hill using an extraction stretcher, a "spinal board" and a "30-metre general purpose line".

The patient was then transferred into a National Trust mule vehicle and transported back to the National Trust office.

The fire service's control said the patient had fallen and sustained injuries, and has been taken to hospital.

The incident concluded at 11.34am.
