The Burwarton Show has been taking place in Shropshire since 1891.
The event sees thousands of people flock to the showground at the Cleobury Mortimer each year to see the heavy horses, cattle, sheep, pigs, horses, carriage driving, dressage and show jumping, plus the ever-popular mounted Fancy Dress competition, along with the trade stalls and scores of food stands.
The event has been run by show manager Glenys Allen for the last 27 years, but she is stepping down and the organisation behind the show has now found a replacement.
In a statement, Burwarton Show said that Sarah Williams is the successful appointee after a competitive application process.
The statement said: “Sarah is very familiar with Burwarton Show, having attended as a child, competed horses and run a trade stand. Sarah has a steep learning curve of all the processes behind the scenes but has hit the ground running and launched into the early preparations for the 2025 show.
“We must thank Glenys Allen for her 27 years of dedicated attention to detail and delivering successful shows, supported by the huge team of volunteers. Glenys has efficiently compiled a 'job bible' to help Sarah, that is proving very useful.
“Welcome Sarah. We wish you every success with Burwarton Show. I am sure you will all support her in her new role.”
Organisers say they are already preparing for the 2025 show, which takes place on Thursday, August 7.
