Shropshire company in court accused of using unlicensed security men at events

A man and a woman have appeared before a judge to face allegations that unlicensed security men were employed at sites including a popular car show.

Matthews Davies, aged 42, and Maria Francis, aged 28, and Craven Arms-based company Showtime Security Guards Ltd faced a total of 15 charges relating to the use of an unlicensed security operative.

Shrewsbury Crown Court heard the alleged offences were between February 2015 and July 2017.

The defendants, of Woodyard Lane, Quatt, along with the company pleaded not guilty to the offences put before them.

The case brought by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) relates to the alleged use of such staff at the VDubs in the Valley VW Show in 2015, Tuffins Supermarket, the Radbrook Campus in Shrewsbury, and young adults shelter Ludlow Foyer, all in Shropshire.

Mr Davies was granted conditional bail, while Ms Francis was also granted unconditional bail. The matter was adjourned for the trial next May.
