Field of barely goes up in flames in Shropshire
Scorched earth is all that's left after the blaze that devastated a farmer's crops in the Shropshire countryside.
It took four fire crews more than an hour to put out the fire, which broke out in a field of barley near the village of Caynham, to the south-east of Ludlow.
Nearly the entire field of straw went up in flames at about 5.45pm on Monday.
Crews from Clun, Craven Arms, Ludlow and Tenbury Wells were called to tackle the fire, which was brought under control by about 7.15pm.
A light pumping unit was used to draw water from the nearby brook, and two hose reels jets and beaters were used to put out the blaze.
The blaze follows another farm fire in south Shropshire that took place on Sunday evening, when a barn full of hay went up in flames in a field off Shrewsbury Road at All Stretton, near Church Stretton.
