Andali Fitness, run by ex-marine and anti-piracy officer Andrew Silvey, entered 26 members in the Furlong Fury Hereford on July 30 and came top, as well as getting an award for the biggest team entry.

The group also came top in the Spartan's South West sprint in Gloucestershire and are now preparing to enter a team into the Spartan's Windsor event at the end of September.

Having settled in Ludlow, Silvey, who spent 14 years in the marines before using his experience to train shipping crews around the world in anti-piracy measures, has become a well-known figure in the town, on a mission to bring an action-packed career’s worth of knowledge of health and fitness to the community.

Now he wants to build an obstacle training area in the Ludlow area.

He said: "Since starting February 2016, Andali Fitness has grown and now runs 12 exercise circuits in Ludlow, Tenbury Wells, Moor Park and trains the Ludlow Rugby Football Club first team.

"There are many success stories – one client that has lost eight stone of fat and gained two stone of muscle in 12 months as well as drastically reducing his blood pressure and heart rate whilst regaining his energy and confidence.

"Another lady who was told by a doctor to live with her back pain and limited mobility 12 months ago now has no pain, full range of motion and attends personal training sessions and circuits with Andali as well as taking up other sports.

"A lot of clients have re-engaged with old sports or have taken up new sports and hobbies such as running, triathlon and tennis.

"It is still Andali's intention to help more people in Ludlow and the surrounding area to embark and maintain a more healthy lifestyle whilst improving their confidence.

"Andali is currently looking for an area to rent that incorporates some sort of overhead cover as well as a grassed outdoor area.

"There are also plans to erect an obstacle course training area and also host a multi discipline fitness competition within the Ludlow area," he added.

He said he wanted to thank five local companies, Engravemet engraving, Merediths optometrists, Mortimers restaurant, Bensons jewellers and ClubSport Ludlow, for sponsoring the group at events with special team t-shirts which will be used at circuits and events for the next year.
