Emergency services were called to Andrews Francis Butchers in Market Street at 6.30pm.

Upon arrival, they found 'a well developed fire' at the rear of the shop.

It is not yet known how the fire started. Police and fire investigation officers from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service were on the scene.

Firefighters from Ludlow, Craven Arms and Tenbury Wells spent an hour and a half bringing the fire under control.

No other buildings had to be evacuated.

Six crew members had to put on breathing apparatus to go into the building to fight the fire and specialist ventilation equipment was used in the heavily smoke-logged building.

Thermal imaging cameras were also used to ensure the fire was completely out.

A spokesman for Ludlow fire station said thankfully there were no injuries.
