Lorna Brooke: Ludlow Racecourse to host celebration of tragic rider's life
A racecourse will be hosting a celebration of the life of a jockey who died last month.
Ludlow Racecourse will be hosting the event, which will be a tribute to Lorna Brooke, who died in hospital after injuries sustained in a fall during a race.
Lorna, who was 37 and from Dolau near Llandrindod Wells, was riding in the Pontispool Equine Sports Centre Handicap Chase at Taunton on April 8 when the horse fell. She died in hospital on April 18.
The celebration of her life will take place on Monday, May 24, during and immediately after racing at Ludlow.
A statement from the racecourse said: "Sir Alistair and Lady Susan Brooke invite Lorna’s friends and colleagues to join them in a marquee in the club enclosure."
Due to Covid-19 regulations all proposed attendees must book in with Ludlow Racecourse on 01584 856221 no later than Monday.
The Amateur Jockeys Association of Great Britain has also sponsored the 3.50pm Amateur Riders Hurdle Race at the meeting in memory of Lorna.
