Bill Higgins, from Sutton Hill, Telford, has arranged for motorcyclists to meet in Telford for a ride to Manchester in honour of the 22 people who were killed and those injured in the attack following an Ariana Grande concert on May 22.

They say they want as many people as possible to join them in raising money and have already received huge support from all over the country.

Mr Higgins, 50, whose wife Marina is also a biker, said: ““I had the idea and a couple of my friends have come together to organise it.

“I saw what happened on TV and thought I have got do do something for what happened.

“At the end of the day it was terrible and we thought we needed to do something.

“We’ve also had lots of help from Manchester, from people up there who are helping organise it from that side, finding a finishing place and things like that. They have been absolutely amazing considering what they have been through.”

Also helping with organising the ride is Lisa and Sean Young, Del Jones and Ruth Juggins, Richard Ward, Andrew Shaw, Kirsty Howe and Dale Phillips.

Helping up in Manchester is Steve Morris who has helped to find a finishing point for the ride, which will start from the M54 services at junction four, close to Shifnal, on July 1. Riders are set to meet at 7am and will set off at about 9am.

The group is also asking for donations on its online page, if they can’t join in with the ride.

Mr Higgins said: “If everybody could just donate £1, it would be absolutely brilliant.”
