The adult male tarantula was recovered from a lady's garden

Scott Adams, from Telford's Exotic Zoo was called to the house in Rodbaston, over the Shropshire border with Staffordshire, to recover the creepy-crawly.

Scott said he had to rescue the adult male taratula from the older lady's back garden about a week ago.

He said: "Her family had called around but no one would help her.

"She was an older lady in a bungalow on her own. Her family got through to me and I went on the rescue.

"It is a big adult male tarantula which is unusual as they only mature in the last cycle of their life.

"It will probably have escaped or been released and as a mature male could have walked a long distance looking for a mate."

Scott, from the zoo based at Lakeside Plant Centre in Priorslee, said the tarantula has now been rehomed at another zoo.
