Two treated after 'carbon dioxide leak' at Telford McDonald's

Two members of staff have been treated by paramedics after a "carbon dioxide leak" in a McDonald's restaurant in Telford.

Fire crews and ambulance were sent to the the restaurant in Telford Town Centre just before 7.30pm tonight.

A fire service spokesman said: "CO2 gas leak within building, which crews are isolating. Two casualties suffering effects of inhalation of CO2 with ambulance staff."

An employee from the McDonald's restaurant said the restaurant was closed "as a precaution".

The employee, who did not wish to be named, said: "It was just an air leak, as a precaution we closed the restaurant.

"The staff members have both been treated by the ambulance service and have left.

"There was a possibility that it could be carbon dioxide but it was oxygen which is why they are fine."
