Telford woman, 33, dies after falling from her bed, inquest told
A woman who spent a day drinking with her partner fell from her bed and died the following morning, an inquest heard this week.
Lyndsay Hayter, 33, of Woodside, Telford, died on October 17 at her home address.
A fast track inquest was held into her death on Thursday at Shirehall.
A statement by coroner’s officer Gordon Dolan said that at 8.33am on the morning of October 17, ambulance staff made contact with the police to say they were dealing with a woman in cardiac arrest.
The statement said: “The deceased was known to be alcohol dependent.
“The deceased and her partner consumed alcohol together throughout the morning of October 16.
“They had a Chinese takeaway and watched TV before her partner fell asleep and when he woke up he found the deceased unresponsive on the floor between the bed and the bedside table. Her partner shouted to another resident who called for an ambulance.
“The crew arrived a short time later and took over resuscitation but this was unsuccessful.
“Police officers attended to assess the scene.
“Miss Hayter had no other injuries apart from a red mark on her neck but police were satisfied it was from falling from the bed. There was no evidence it was suspicious.”
The cause of death was acute alcohol toxicity.
Miss Hayter’s body was identified at 3.35pm on October 24 by her father Brian Hayter.
Miss Hayter was born in The Wirrall.
Coroner for Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, John Ellery said: “On that evidence I record that Lyndsay Hayter died in Woodside, Telford, on October 17.
“The medical cause of death was acute alcohol toxicity, I record a conclusion that the death is alcohol related.”
