The A442 Queensway was closed at Wombridge Interchange while emergency services dealt with an incident on the bridge.

A police spokesman said: "We had a number of phone calls about concerns for the welfare of a gentleman on a bridge. We had police negotiators on scene and it was resolved."

There was delays of about 30 minutes before the road was reopened at 7.55am.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman Claire Brown said: "We were called by the police after they were concerned for the welfare of a man at the Wrockwardine Interchange in Telford at 6.45am this morning.

"A paramedic and ambulance attended and they treated and conveyed a man to hospital for further checks."

It comes as police in Shrewsbury were called to three separate incidents today where people were threatening to jump from bridges around the town.
