Pilot has licence suspended after flying into RAF Cosford airspace during air show rehearsals
A pilot's licence has been suspended after infringing restricted airspace being used for RAF Cosford Air Show rehearsals.
The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), has launched an investigation into an infringement of the temporary restricted area airspace at RAF Cosford on June 9, the day before RAF Cosford Air Show.
This incident resulted in an "airprox" with an aircraft conducting a flying display rehearsal as the safety of those involved was compromised.
Due to the severity of this incident the pilot's licence has been provisionally suspended.
The CAA takes all airspace infringements seriously to ensure the safety of aircraft and the public.
Rob Gratton, principal airspace regulator at the UK Civil Aviation Authority, said: “We constantly remind pilots of the importance of being fully briefed on NOTAM and supporting Aeronautical Information Circulars which can be found on the NATS Aeronautical Information Services website."
