Children at Newdale Primary School donned costumes to show what jobs they would like to do when they grow up.

The Enterprise Day was organised as part of efforts to encourage all the pupils to think about what their future job might be, and how to make the best of their talents and skills.

Young pupils in the reception year dressed up in costumes while the older pupils took part in mock job interviews, devised CVs, and completed a chocolate packaging enterprise project.

Guests at the event included James Davis, a flying officer from RAF Shawbury, school meal supplier Let;s Dine chef of the year Becca Bowdler and staff from a vets' surgery based in the town.

Newdale head Rachel Cook said: "It's been an absolutely wonderful day. We have been trying to develop the children's future aspirations and helping them to think about their potential careers and what they could become in the world of work.

"We had a real life chef who came to talk about her career path, a vets' team also came in and they gave treatment to a giant teddy bear. We followed it up with an assembly covering the theme of employability. We take the children on trips to companies all through the year, including to JLR.

"I believe that we need to get children excited about their futures and their careers ahead."
