250 park runs and counting for Jim, 81
He might have reached the grand age of 81 but Jim Hussey still knows how to enjoy a park run.
The former RAF serviceman picked up his running shoes again six years ago after competing in his earlier years.
And he hasn't looked back as he crossed the finish line at Telford parkrun on Saturday morning, to complete his 250th park run.
He said: "It was quite low key but there were some runners who stayed back and watched and cheered me in.
"It was fantastic, I don't run very fast any more, it is more of a jog to be honest.
"I used to compete a lot when I was younger, I was a serious runner.
"Then I stopped when I was in my 40s.
"It is great to go out and have some fun, and to be able to encourage the younger runners."
Orginally from Dorset, Mr Hussey moved to the area in the 1970s, after being posted to RAF Cosford.
He got his running shows back on after his wife was diagnosed with dementia.
She was taken into a home, and later sadly died.
But Mr Hussey's positive attitude led him to get back out running, and he hasn't looked back.
He added: "I thought rather than mope around at home I could go out and do something positive, and I have done.
"It is something I enjoy and god willing I want to carry on running."
Mr Hussey has diabetes but he hasn't let that stop him. He didn't even let a broken ankle stop him last year.
He insists there is no secret to running into his 80s.
"People ask me what the secret is, but there isn't really a secret," he said.
"It is more about the mental side of it that the physical.
"People say they can't do it because they have an ache or a pain, but until you get out and have a go you don't know."
