Telford school reopens to all pupils following major water leak
A school in Wellington that suffered a major water leak has reopened following repair work.
Charlton School, in Wellington, was only open to years seven, 10 and 11 pupils after a main pipe burst, resulting in flooding to three floors.
But following work at the Apley Avenue premises the school fully opened to all years.
Charlton's principal Andrew McNaughton said: "All students are expected to be in school for our normal start time of 8.40am. The main school entrance will be open. Students in years seven, 10 and 11 should make their way to their usual form rooms.
"I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank the school's site and ICT teams, as without their support and hard work, the school would have faced a significantly longer closure."
Charlton relocated from Severn Drive to a new building in 2017 at a cost of about £16 million.
It took over the former Blessed Robert Johnson Catholic College, which in turn reopened as Holy Trinity Academy in Priorslee under Telford & Wrekin Council’s £200 million Building Schools for the Future project.
