The blaze started in the hallway of a first-floor flat in Beaconsfield, Brookside, at about 4.30am this morning.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service sent three appliances from Telford Central and Tweedale.

Fire crews used a covering jet, two hose-reel jets, six breathing apparatus sets, positive pressure ventilation and a thermal imaging camera to tackle the blaze and clear the area.

The suspect, a 42-year-old woman from Telford, has been arrested on suspicion of arson and is in police custody.

A man was taken to hospital following the fire, which crews managed to put out within the hour.

West Mercia Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service were also at the scene.
