Telford arson probe: Ten people evacuated after blaze at flat
Ten people were evacuated and one was treated for burns following a fire in a Telford flat which led to the arrest of a woman.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Crews were called to a fire that began in the hallway of a first floor flat in Beaconsfield, Brookside, at around 4.30am on Monday.
Appliances from Telford Central and Tweedale attended, along with West Midlands Ambulance Service.
The fire service today confirmed that ten people were evacuated and one man was treated for burns and smoke inhalation.
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called by the fire service at 4.47am.
"We sent one ambulance and a paramedic officer, and one patient was treated at the scene and taken to the Princess Royal Hospital."
A 42-year-old woman has since been arrested on suspicion of arson and is in police custody.
Fire crews used a covering jet, two hose-reel jets, six breathing apparatus sets, positive pressure ventilation and a thermal imaging camera to tackle the blaze and clear the area.
