It's Pancake Day . . . on ice!
It is hard enough to flip a pancake, but today businesses from across Telford will prove that it is even harder on ice.
Telford Ice Rink is holding its second annual charity pancake race – and it’s a real test of balance and speed.
The race will be taking place between 12.30pm and 2pm, and both competitors and spectators can enter for free.
But organisers ask that anybody interested in attending donate a little towards the Telford & Wrekin mayor’s chosen charity, Building Bridges, Building Communities Together.
Councillor John Minor, cabinet member for leisure, green spaces and parks, said: “Last year was a great success, we’re encouraging local businesses and communities to get involved.
“The only question that remains is, who will win the title of ‘Best Flipper in Telford 2019’ and who will be taking away the booby prize of a wooden spoon?”
The relay race sees people racing from one side of the rink to the other, all while flipping their pancakes.
The first team of four to make the trip will be given the top title.
They will be vying to take the title away from last year’s winners, radio station Signal 107.
All businesses entered will be given the opportunity to take photos and videos on the ice of their teams taking part, and are encouraged to dress in fancy dress to help distinguish what business or team they represent.
Last year saw 24 people take part in the challenge, split into six teams of four.
