The mayor of Telford and leader of the council are urging residents to back the Bucks ahead of their bid to reach Wembley in the FA Trophy Final.

AFC Telford United are hoping to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg of the semi-final against National League leaders Leyton Orient.

Hundreds of Bucks fans made the trip to east London last weekend to see Gavin Cowan's side in a hard-fought defeat.

The return leg is taking place on Saturday at 3pm, and the club are expecting a capacity crowd to help claw back a result.

Lift

Mayor of Telford, councillor Raj Mehta, said: "It would be fantastic to see a sold out Buck's Head in full voice on Saturday to give the players a huge lift as they walk out for the game.

"It would be wonderful for the profile of both the club and the borough if they were to make it to Wembley for the FA Trophy final, although we know the semi-final will be tough against a very good team."

Councillor Shaun Davies, leader of the council, said: "It's fantastic that the club is potentially only 90 minutes away from a Wembley final.

"I would urge as many people who can get to the game to go along and hopefully witness history being made."

Numbers

People under the age of 16 are being let into the game for just £1 in efforts to boost numbers. A sell out crowd is expected and there are few tickets left on sale.

If Telford make it to Wembley, the final will be part of Non-League Finals Day on Sunday May 19.

They would face either AFC Fylde or Stockport County, who drew their first leg 0-0 last Saturday.

Tickets for the game can be purchased on 01952 640064.
