Homes '50 per cent destroyed' in Telford fire

Two homes were ravaged by fire last night in Telford.

Firefighters were sent to Bishopdale in Brookside shortly after 9pm last night, where two terraced houses were alight.

Four fire engines were sent, and the homes were "50 per cent destroyed" according to Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service. Nobody was inside the properties when crews arrived.

Fire investigation officers were in attendance, as were the police.

A fire service spokesman said: "At 9.09pm on Monday, March 15, we received a call reporting a fire classified as house fire in Telford.

"Fire involving two terraced houses, 50 per cent destroyed by fire. Crews used four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, two covering jets and two 9m ladders

"Four fire appliances were mobilised from Telford Central, Tweedale and Wellington. Operations and fire investigation officers were in attendance.

"Also at the scene of the incident were the police and a utility company."

Police have said that there is not believed to have been any criminal activity involved.
