Amanda launches second book in family saga
Shropshire-born writer Amanda Bateman has launched her latest book, the second in a saga revolving around the trials and tribulations of the fictional Arnold family.
Tying The Knot is the follow up to the initial story, called Cutting The Cord.
"The Arnolds have been forming in my mind for many years. I wanted to write about a family whose lives are affected by the actions of others and how they deal with each situation," said Amanda, who honed her writing skills by taking several creative writing courses at Telford College of Arts and Technology.
Born in Donnington, her family later moved to Stirchley, where she went to Stirchley Upper School, and on leaving worked as a shop assistant in Telford town centre. Later she worked at a post office and later still was the deputy manager of a charity shop in Oakengates.
She moved to Derbyshire three years ago and now lives in Ripley.
Amanda said: "My sons, our families and friends, some of which are from our school days, still live in the Telford area and we return as often as we can to see them. It'll always hold a special place in my heart.
"As a child and as an adult I've climbed the Wrekin many times and watched Telford New Town, as it was called back then, being built. It's still growing and many places where we use to play as kids have disappeared but I've so many wonderful memories of a happy childhood spent there."
Tying The Knot is published by Troubador Publishing.
