Telford barber shop owner fined over sharp waste disposal failings
A barber shop owner accused of not disposing of sharp waste correctly has been slapped with a court bill of nearly £2,000.
Dana Husseini, who owns H5 Barber Shop in Wellington, pleaded guilty to failing to provide records of waste collections when requested by council officers following a complaint.
Hafsa Khatun, prosecuting for Telford & Wrekin Council, told the town's magistrates court that environmental health officers called in to the shop in New Street on July 12 last year, after concerns were raised by a member of the public about how sharp waste was being dealt with.
Ms Khatun said Husseini was not at the premises but officers spoke with an employee and served a notice requiring the business owner to send copies of waste collection documentation to the council. The law requires records to be kept for two years.
