Woman airlifted to hospital after crash closes Telford road
A woman in her 60s was cut from her vehicle and airlifted to hospital after two cars crashed at a roundabout in Telford.
The crash happened on the Donnington Wood Roundabout near Asda at around 2pm on Sunday.
Two fire engines attended the scene, alongside police and ambulance crews and the road was closed for two-and-a-half hours.
West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman Claire Brown said: "West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to reports of a two-car road traffic collision outside Asda on St Georges Road, Donnington, Telford, shortly after 2pm.
"An ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford with a MERIT trauma doctor on board attended the scene.
"A woman in her 60s, the driver of one car, was trapped in the vehicle and had suffered chest and hip injuries. Whilst the fire service worked to release the woman, ambulance crews worked to treat her injuries and stabilise her condition.
"Once out of the vehicle, she was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further trauma care."
