'Sorsha', the distinct snowy owl, escaped her pen in Jiggers Bank in Coalbrookdale, Ironbridge, earlier this week.

The owl's owners, Diana Vincent and Sam Stewart, are appealing for any sightings of Sorsha, due to concerns about her inability to hunt.

The owl has been hand-reared by the couple who said she had gone missing in the wake of the storms at the start of the week.

Mr Stewart said: "We are getting quite upset because what she won't do, because she is hand reared so-to-speak and we feed her, is she won't hunt.

"We have seen rats walk through her enclosure and she will just let them walk past so she won't eat and that's what we are worried about."

Mr Stewart said they had still not worked out how Sorsha had escaped from her enclosure but did not suspect any foul play.

Sorsha's owners also advised anyone who sees the bird not to try and pick her up and to instead call them straight away.
