Ironbridge park gets a spring clean with benches and bins installed
Work to improve a popular park in Ironbridge is underway.
New pathways linking picnic benches are being created and new litter bins are being installed in key locations around Dale End Park, funded by Telford & Wrekin Council's Pride in our Community scheme.
The work was set to be completed earlier in the year, but was postponed due to heavy rainfall and flooding.
Popular
A popular destination for families, dog walkers, and visitors to the town, the park is also used as a prime venue for local events and activities – having a number of football pitches, a play area and an informal recreation area.
Benches, railings and bollards around the park are also set to be repainted.
Councillor Rae Evans, Telford & Wrekin Council's cabinet member for people services, visitor economy and partnerships, has visited the area to see the work being completed.
Beautiful
She said: “Ironbridge is a beautiful part of the borough and has so much to offer, including the lovely Dale End Park.
"The furniture in the park has been looking a little tired though, so I am very pleased to see that work to spruce things up is happening.
“The recent rain we’ve had has delayed things a bit, but crews are now able to start again and the work should all be finished by the summer.”
Councillor Nicola Lowery, borough councillor for the Ironbridge Gorge, said: “Dale End Park is used by many people from within our community and really is such a beautiful park and recreational outdoor space that is enjoyed by thousands of visitors and residents alike.
"It has been great to work as a community with the council to identify and ensure improvements are made to the park facilities, such as the picnic benches, railings and bollards and I have contributed some of my councillor Pride Funding to make sure we progress these ideas to make sure our beloved park sees improvements to ensure it is the best it can possibly be."
