Work on Jackfield Gates to close busy road
A busy road near Ironbridge will be temporarily closed for the installation of the newly renovated Jackfield crossing gates.
The newly renovated Grade II listed gates arrived in three sections on April 18 after a year-long project to restore them.
But parts of Lloyd's Head, from near the Black Swan pub, will be shut so the gates can be rebuild.
The works will last about three-and-a-half weeks, with the project expected to be completed by May 14.
But the road will only be closed on May 8 and 9, from 9.30am until 3.30pm each day.
Signs will be put up warning people of the closure and diversions will be in place.
Councillor Nicola Lowery, ward member for the Ironbridge Gorge, said: "We are keen to limit any disruption within our community and from speaking with local residents, I have subsequently spoken to the council and they have agreed to ensure that an 'access only' advanced warning sign is placed at the entrance of Chapel Lane off Lloyds Head to deter this being used as a cut through.
"The council have also letter dropped the residents and businesses impacted by the road closure and will be placing advanced warning signs on site and within the vicinity of the works. Access will also maintained for emergencies, deliveries and residents."
