Telford teenager killed after being hit by a bus named locally as Lee Hill
A teenager who died after he was trapped under a bus has been named locally as Lee Hill.
The 19-year-old died on Sutton Way, near Hilda Hooke Close in Sutton Hill at 9pm on Saturday.
Tributes have been left by the side of the road near to where the collision took place.
One read: "RIP, Lee. You'll never be forgotten. I still can't believe you're gone, I'm so sorry for the loss."
Another read: "RIP, mate. You will always be remembered."
Dozens of tributes have been also shared on social media from friends and family of the young man.
Allie Cresswell said: "Rest in peace Lee.
"I remember you when you was little playing for our football club. Thoughts are with your family and friends."
Tina Roberts said: "RIP young man thoughts and prayers to all your family and friends."
Shelly Dumbrell said: "RIP young man. – another young life taken too soon."
Michelle Green said: "So sad. I remember him from Madeley Academy."
Investigating
The road was closed for six hours after the crash as emergency services worked to clear the road and carry out investigative work.
West Midlands Ambulance Service said the teenager was confirmed dead at the scene after becoming trapped under the bus.
Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service said it was called just after 9pm on Saturday and sent two fire engines and the rescue tender from Telford and Wellington.
Crews used low pressure air bags to release the teenager.
West Mercia Police are investigating what happened and are appealing for anybody with information to come forward.
They are especially interested in speaking with the driver of a dark coloured car, which pulled out from Summerhill heading towards Sutton Hill Roundabout at about the time Lee was hit.
The vehicle was not involved in the accident but police say the driver may have seen what happened and are keen to get in contact with them.
