Refurbishment of Telford's Anstice Memorial Hall begins
The £1.1 million refurbishment of the region's oldest working men's club has begun.
The Anstice Memorial Hall in Madeley has now closed ready for the major work to begin.
The landmark will have a new lift installed and disabled facilities added.
Rooms on the ground floor will be altered by builders to provide a new location for a library, cafe and shops. The ballroom upstairs will be redecorated and the toilets refurbished.
The cost of the work is being funded by Madeley Town Council through Telford & Wrekin Council and a public works loan.
Building work will take up to nine months.
Bosses at The Anstice are already planning a Peaky Blinders evening for the grand reopening on October 12.
