The swimming pool at the Abraham Darby Sports & Leisure Centre, in Madeley, was shut all day Tuesday and Wednesday because of what a spokesman said was a problem with the pool's moveable floor.

On Wednesday a team of four divers were sent to the pool to repair a cable that had snapped.

To make the repairs the adjustable floor had to be raised and the divers lowered into a submerged section.

A statement by Telford & Wrekin Council on Wednesday afternoon said: "The swimming pool at Abraham Darby Sports & Leisure will reopen tomorrow morning at 6.30am for the adult early morning swim following completion of work to repair the pool floor this evening.

"Thank you for your patience whilst the pool floor has been undergoing repairs."
