More than 800 sign Shropshire hunt hound muzzle petition
More than 800 people have signed a petition which say hunters should muzzle their dogs to protect pets, following a cat's death during the Albrighton and Woodland Hunt.
The petition was set up after Helen Keyzor's cat, Rosie, was mauled by a hound from the hunt at Norbury Junction, for which hunt representatives have apologised.
Steph Lonsdale who created the petition said: "Too many pets have been killed in their own gardens by hounds who are allegedly trail-hunting or on a ride out with the hunt, as in the case at Norbury Junction on March 13.
"This episode again revealed that the hunt have little or no control over their hounds once an animal is scented and makes a joke of the current fox hunting ban.
"Enforcing the use of muzzles may help to prevent other animals experiencing such a barbaric and grotesque death, and should also benefit the hunt by ensuring they remain on the right side of the law."
At the time of writing the petition has been signed more than 840 times, with a target of 1,000.
