Elderly man airlifted to hospital after collision with 4x4 in Newport

An elderly man was airlifted to hospital after he was hit by a 4x4 on a single-track road in Newport today.

Fire crews, an ambulance and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford were called to Field Aston Lane at about 10.20am.

The man, a pedestrian, was treated at the scene for a leg injury and was then airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said nobody else required hospital treatment.
