On Monday in Shrewsbury, inquests were opened into the deaths of Mavis Dorothy Lucas, 75, and John Beresford Lucas, 86.
The inquest was opened by coroner's officer Julie Hartridge, who outlined the brief circumstances surrounding the deaths.
She said that on November 26, West Mercia Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to flat nine, Preston Trust Homes in Newport, after two people were found unresponsive.
Their bodies were identified to a police officer by the scheme manager of the homes.
Coroner for Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin John Ellery adjourned the inquest, for a full hearing to take place on March 21.
