Newport group raises £19k for cancer charity
More than £19,000 has been raised by a group of Newport women to support the vital work of a cancer charity.
The Newport Cancer Research committee has revealed that total proceeds from a series of successful events in the last 12 months and donations raised £19,230.
The ladies held their main fundraiser at Sydney House Farm, Kynnersley in June last year. The wonderland summer luncheon raised more than £14,000.
A coffee morning held in October last year at North Lynn Manor also boosted the total, alongside donations in memorial, from birthday parties and other generous contributions from charity supporters.
Businesses from across the county have also made donations.
The Newport committee organises two main annual fundraisers each year and plans are already well under way to decide their summer and autumn events for 2019.
