It was unveiled at a special ceremony on Friday with guests from the campaign group Sustainable Newport Shropshire.

There is a proposal afoot to consider including the mural which features a natural world theme in the town's Britain in Bloom entry.

In addition to a campaign for businesses and community groups to ditch plastic bags and containers the town has launched a water refill scheme to reduce bottle usage.

Participating cafes, bars, restaurants, banks, and other businesses will put up a sticker in their window letting people know they are involved. So far 13 refill sites have registered for the scheme with the help of an app.
