Police shepherd sheep off busy A518 outside Newport
Police officers turned shepherds to prevent accidents on the A518 just outside Newport today.
Sheep escaped from their field and onto the busy road on the edge of the town.
Police from the Newport Safer Neighbourhood Team tweeted that there were reports of a number of sheep in the road and warned motorists to take care.
Officers went to find the sheep to help Staffordshire police.
They later said: "We have safely guided the sheep off the A518 onto a side lane and into a field.
"We have identified the farmer and a border collie on route to herd them home."
