Care home staff praised for hard work in pandemic

The owners of a care home in Newport have paid tribute to its staff for going above and beyond during the pandemic.

The Rubens is part of a group of United care and Beaumaris Healthcare group.

The care home currently houses 24 residents and the fiirst Coronaviurs vaccinations were completed in the middle of January.

It says as a group it has been supporting the local community during the pandemic and now its care homes, community care staff and healthcare staff are all vaccinated.

A spokesman for the group said: "The Rubens Manager still stays next to the home, but now not every day.

"The bungalow adjacent to the Rubens provides emergency respite for staff, which in turn helps with the quality of service the residents receive."

"We are exceptionally proud of our team and their commitment and how we have continued to support our local community. Our carers have gone above and beyond to support clients in their homes throughout the pandemic. Ensuring the wellbeing of all our clients and offering peace of mind for families and loved ones who were not able to visit their family members."

Support has also extended into the community the spokesman said.

"The psychologists and counsellors from Beaumaris Wellbeing Centre in Newport have been supporting both our local community with their mental health and emotional wellbeing and also have been helping people remotely across the country. They have also been helping companies prepare for returning to the work place and support their staff working remotely through training courses in Anxiety and Mental Health First Aid.!

"Beaumaris Nursing agency have also been delivering outstanding service throughout he pandemic and have recently been recognised as Best Care Home Nursing Agency in England by Al-Publishing, which is an exceptional achievement, and credit to the teams’ hard work."
