Erin Aston, from Telford Crisis Support, is having a fundraising bargain prom dress sale after a stock of clothing was donated to the service

On Saturday, April 27, the team at Telford Crisis Support and the Hub on the Hill charity shop will hold a sale for prom and formal dresses between 10am and 2pm at the Forge Urban Revival centre at the Wakes in Oakengates.

Erin Aston, of Telford Crisis Support, came across the dresses by chance and hatched the idea to sell them at massively reduced prices at the event next week.

“It was a complete matter of circumstances, just being in the right place at the right time,” she said. “The dresses were donated to the Severn Dance Academy upstairs. They didn’t know what to do with them and donated them to the charity shop at the Hub on the Hill.

“I work right next door and I was in there needing plates for one of our service users, and I saw the prom dresses.

“Barbara from the Hub on the Hill said they would put them on Facebook, and I said ‘give me a few weeks and I will come up with a plan.”

She set to work organising for an organised sale event, and the Forge agreed to host the sale next week.

On the day volunteers will be on hand with sewing machines to help with any small alterations needed, as some of the dresses are samples.

Erin continued: “We’ve also arranged for a couple of dresses to be given away at no cost, for those that are living independently from their family, who are in year 11.

“We are desperate for some clothes rails. If anyone has some we could borrow for a day that would be great.”
