Wrekin Retail Park death: Trial to start in spring

The trial of a man accused of causing the death of a pensioner at a retail park will not take place until the spring.

Janet Lane, 73, died when she was struck by a VW van while crossing the road at the Wrekin Retail Park on the morning of November 22 last year.

Andrew Charles Richards, 54, of Orchard Close, Cressage, who denies causing the death of Mrs Lane by careless driving, appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court on Tuesday.

Judge Jim Tindal adjourned the case for trial which, he said, would take place on April 9 next year. The defendant was granted bail
