The Rock Project is coming to Telford

The Rock Project Telford is looking for youngsters aged seven to 11 to hone their musical skills at its base in Wellington.

During the course the children will be taught by professional musicians how to sing, or play the guitar, bass or drums, before being invited to perform together as a band.

The Rock Project Telford is run by vocal tutor Remynie-Kiah Faith and owner Gail Faith.

Remynie-Kiah said the school was suitable for everyone, from complete beginners to advanced players.

“The Rock Project is nothing like your typical music tuition, it’s completely unique”, she said.

“Learning as part of a small group and being able to put into practice what you’ve

learnt as part of a band teaches you musicianship, confidence, timing, creativity and

improvisation.”

The school holds an annual end of year showcase where family and friends get to see the students perform on stage in bands. There are also numerous other gigs held throughout the year.

She said the school had a team of talented teachers who have all had their moments in the spotlight, including being support acts to Ocean Colour Scene, Alvin Stardust, Don Broco, Del Amitri and Kids in Glass Houses.

They have also played festivals such as Download and Sonisphere and have written, recorded and released four studio albums between them.

The Rock Project Telford takes place on Wednesdays and Saturdays at Wellington Cottage Care Centre in Haygate Road.

Half of the two-hour-long sessions provide tuition on their given instruments while the second half brings the youngsters together to hone their skills as a band on stage.
