Homes damaged in two separate Telford house fires
Two homes have been damaged by fires that broke out within an hour of each other in Telford.
The first blaze on Monday evening broke out at about 6.10pm in Stirchley and destroyed the conservatory of an end of terrace house in Cornbrook, which branches off Churchway.
Two fire crews from Telford Central were quickly on the scene and two firefighters donned breathing apparatus to enter the property and put out the fire while colleagues used a covering jet to ensure their safety and stop the fire spreading to the rest of the house.
The blaze was brought under control in 20 minutes.
Crews boarded off the conservatory from the rest of the property because it was unsafe. The cause of the fire is not known.
Local resident Jason Urwin, who took photographs at the scene, said the fire service turned up quickly to put out the blaze.
An hour later two fire crews from Wellington and Telford Central responded to a 999 call when a blaze broke out at a house in East Avenue, Donnington.
The alarm was raised at 7.13pm after the fire began in the kitchen.
A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said that items had been left on the hob of the oven and said firefighters doused the flames within 15 minutes.
